Manual Lymphatic Drainage “MLD” & Lymph Drainage for General Wellness, Detoxification Support, and Pre/Post Op Recovery
Please read this page in its entirety for a full explanation for this service
Who can benefit from this treatment?
Simply put..Everyone!
Keeping our lymphatic systems healthy is a vital component to the health of our bodies. The lymph system acts as a main component of our detoxification, immune & circulatory systems.
The How’s & Why’s: The lymphatic system absorbs 90% of metabolic waste and is deeply linked to the immune system as it is where our protective lymphocytes are made. “Draining”, or assisting lymphatic flow allows this system to not only speed healing and assist in general detoxification, but also increases metabolism & systemic whole body healing!
**We do not actually drain fluid out of the body, rather we encourage & enhance your body natural drainage pathways with directed & specific manual massage therapy techniques.
*Manual Lymphatic drainage is the gold standard as a recommended treatment for Pre AND Post Operative patients to increase the body’s natural ability to heal & recover more quickly! It is a gentle, relaxing & effective modality performed by a trained therapist.
It is well known in the surgical world & recommended to also prep your body, immune, and nervous systems before and after invasive procedures. Clinically proven to reduce scar tissue formation (fibrosis), eliminates extensive bruising, decreases pain, recovery time and complications that could lead to more procedures.
During surgery, many lymph pathways are severed, creating pooling of fluids in tissues resulting in decreased ability of healthy circulation, uneven scar tissue formation (and eventually fibrotic tissue) thus restricting the bodies ability to move freely.
Patients post surgery often experience bruising, pain, compensation in the body of surrounding and distal structures, as well as decreased quality of life in general and inability to properly detoxify.
Health Concerns & Indications for MLD:
lymph Edema & Lipedema, migraines, joint replacement surgeries, breast cancer removal & reconstructive surgeries, Bariatric ~ c-section & “tummy tuck” ~ “Mommy make-over” surgeries, & autoimmune conditions: MS, Parkinson’s, Lupus, and Fibromyalgia.
Examples of how Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage sessions can assist with healing with pre and post op commitment: These pictures depict two different patients ~ same surgeon, similar age, body type, and same liposuction operation performed. The top patient received regular preparatory and post op massage.. The bottom patient did not receive before or after, and was in such significant pain she had to return for pain medication implant seen in the upper thigh area. Just Wow!
